It’s not so often that you see a young person tackle a timeless classic such as Andrea Bocelli’s “Time to Say Goodbye”. However, this 13-year-old proved the judges and audience wrong when she began the iconic notes that start this classic opera tune.
Even from the opening orchestral melody, the judges were surprised. We can’t blame them, to be honest—why would somebody tackle a song that is so difficult and touching on a televised event? It’s beautiful, sure, but it’s definitely one of the most difficult songs you can sing. It also starts out very modestly and gets much more intense until the climactic notes that frame the melody as something truly to be reckoned with.
However, she doesn’t even miss a note and within 30 seconds already two judges had hit their buttons, allowing her to progress to the next round. On the show this happened on, The Voice Kids Germany, this is certainly not a common occurrence, so it came as a huge surprise to those involved. However, Solomia was ready to prove them wrong and set a record.
One of the judges was even so moved by the performance that she began crying, a true anomaly for what is usually such a tough show to break through on. What’s more impressive is that as the song goes on her performance gets more and more spot on, even climaxing at the top notes incredibly succinctly and beautifully. Throughout the entire performance her voice is never out-of-tune and it continually wows the audience all the way through.
This is something that you’re truly going to want to hear for yourself.
