The probability of having twins from two uteruses, also known as uterus didelphys, is estimated to be one in a million. And Melanie is believed to be the first incidence of this rare condition in the United Kingdom.

She commented, “When we were told it was quite! We have a large family, but that is not part of our preparations. However, I wouldn’t alter it for the world. I observed a distinction while expectant with triplets. I was frequently required to with them kicking on both sides.”

Instead of resembling a typical womb, she is heart-shaped with two chambers. The condition does not hinder a woman’s ability to conceive, but it does increase the likelihood of a spontaneous birth.

Phoebe, the first child, was born via C-section at 29 weeks in February 2017; Blake, the second child, was born via C-section at 34 weeks two years later. Then, two months later, Melanie discovered she was pregnant again very quickly. The sonographer did not inform the couple that they were expecting distinct sets of triplets until

the 12-week ultrasound.

Melanie and Ben were advised to undergo scans every two weeks so that physicians can monitor the pregnancy. The triplets were delivered via C-section at 32 weeks gestation on January 26.

“It’s all about the children,” she added. Now, our family is complete. We have a large family, they are my entire existence, and they are overjoyed to have siblings.
